| Entering a New Inventory Record (F4 in BCSS) |
Click F4 or on 'Inventory' on Work Areas Toolbar to access the Inventory Work Area-

then select 'New Item' on the Toolbar -

Choose the consignor to whom the new item belongs and click 'OK'.
The Consignor % field will show the default value that was entered in Program Setup. A different percentage may be set for each item and may be changed later using either batch or single-item edit.
Enter the consignor % in decimal form, e.g., .40 for 40%. For a House Account (where the shop is to receive 100% of the sale proceeds) enter 1, not 100.
Enter the description (for labels, maximum 20 characters), select a category and enter any details (for detailed labels and the detailed inventory report, maximum 47 characters). The Batch Edit screen allows up to 100 characters in the item description.
Enter the Price, Lowest Price and Quantity.
The 'Date In' is preset for the current date but may be changed by selecting a date from the calendar or by clicking on a day, month or year entry and using up and down arrows to change values.
The Item Number is automatically assigned but modifying item numbers to include part of the consignor's name will help identify the consignor when viewing inventory later.
Click 'OK' when completed. Changes will be saved.
The 'New Item' screen includes options for 'This is a rental item.' and 'Sales Location' for networking. Ignore these if they do not apply.
