ConsignPro - "Assurance of Professionalism"

Below are a few 'Inner Office Memos' relating the complaints from actual Consignpro users. All software companies have issues but here's the 'Consignpro Difference':

  • Discourteous condescending attitude
  • Annual fees for support
  • Refusing to upgrades if annual support fees are not paid
  • Threatening users with more fees if they don't stop calling for support
  • Selling an inferior product that he admits is faulty then charging $69 for each 'tune up' (unnecessary in quality software)
  • Increasing support fees after purchase
  • Inventing new fees after purchase ($69 database 'tune up', $45 printer support, $72 data storage (typically a free service)
  • Manipulating problems into opportunities to charge more fees
  • Excessive hardware markups, hiding shipping fees until after credit-card information is requested
  • Faking his identity as a 'CEO' of a corporation
  • Misrepresenting his location to appear credible: "Offices in New York and Miami"
  • "Our support teams and our sales teams - Call. You'll get an answering machine.
  • Runs his 'business' out of a condo
  • Claiming credibility where none has been bestowed: 'Member of NARTS - Assurance of Professionalism' - NARTS: 'I do not know of any Industry Association that has the power to approve of marketing and operational methods of a member company."
  • Encouraging users to steal from their customers and providing software features to aid and abed thievery.
  • Disallowing users to resell the software if arcane requirements aren't met. This post went unrequited by Wilson and some other poster had to let the lady know she had been had
  • Encouraging competitors' customers to file complaints with the Better Business Bureau in attempts to get refunds after the refund period
  • Allegedly hacking users' computers without consent or disclosure
  • Allegedly destroying users' registration codes and data
  • 'Ambulance chasing' in public forums, attempting to exploit software users' difficulties
  • Advertising updates as free (They aren't free if you have to buy something else to get them.)
  • Excessive fees for additional licenses or networking ($295 each)
  • Advertising 'Free Software' on the Internet Yahoo and Google
  • Lying about competitors and publicly posting slanderous remarks

Conpro User: "ok, so 2 months later and still no reply. I came here to ask about the gift cards, but won't waste either of our time. 7 years of loyalty to ConsignPro...not much at least 2 recommendations resulting in sales of ConsignPro...not much 1 answer to 1 question...priceless"

She said his program crashes more than any other software program she has used by far. She uses everybody’s by the way, so she knows the ins and outs about tags for them, by testing herself. She said the reason his software looks like it is steadily 'evolving' is due to fixes and not added features to the program.

Just wanted to let you know I felt much better after stumbling across your webpage and reading your comments on Consignpro. Unfortunately, when I started my store four years ago I purchased software from this horrible place and have never been treated so badly in my life! You're absolutely right, Brian gets you sucked in and then treats you like a dog because he thinks he's got you backed into a corner because you have no other choice. He actually told me he deleted me from his database and if I ever needed anything from them I would have to rebuy the license. That is illegal! So, long story short, I'm looking into how to go about filing a complaint and found your page. Michele

I just got off the phone with a VERY dissatisfied Consignpro user who has been with them for the past 2 years. Their PC tech has been on the phone with Wilson of Consignpro for the last two days trying to resolve an issue. Wilson said that it was a hardware problem and that if the client would pay the annual maintenance fee Wilson would help, but if not, Wilson would not help but would sell them another label printer.

The user stated that the owner had already sunk over $5,000 in Consignpro (in two years!) and that was enough! They originally bought Consignpro because of NARTS' endorsement. Later she found out that Wilson’s mother is the founder of NARTS.

The user called back to say they are taking NARTS and Consignpro to court. After failing to get help from Wilson, she tried to access Consignpro and the registration code and data had been erased! They disconnected her PC from the Internet and she was able to open the program. They are under the impression Wilson can access their PC if it's connected to the Internet. They are both livid.

When the user told Wilson they were purchasing our program, Wilson berated us, telling him that we were 'bad' and asking how he could even consider our program.

I spoke with a person who is was buying a consignment shop. The present owner uses Consignpro. He said the owner has had all kinds of problems and expenses related to Consignpro. Checks will not print correctly. If a whole sheet of labels is not used the unused labels are wasted. Consignpro constantly had glitches requiring repeated uninstalls and reinstalls and they still do not have the problems resolved. Hang tags for Consignpro are the most expensive at $70 per roll and a roll is gone in just a few days. Another recurring expense was for support (that rarely was ever pleasant). I had 4 more calls relating to Consignpro today and all were VERY dissatisfied Consignpro customers.

Just had a call from a Consignpro user who is looking at our program. She said their support techs are usually unfriendly and treat her like she does not know how to use a PC. She said that was fine 4 years ago, but they know she has been a customer for a long time and should be aware that she knows how to use a PC. She said she is very interested in Best Consignment Shop Software and appreciates the absence of annual support fees.

Financial Considerations

Consignpro and others have more competition than four years ago.

  • We have arrived on the scene with lower prices and a superior product.
  • We are the first in consignment software to offer all of these for free: advertising, phone calls, support, updates, manuals, shipping, CDs and an e-book, How to Start a Consignment Shop.
  • Their advertising costs are high. Search Google, Yahoo and MSN for 'consignment software' and see which companies are paying for 'Sponsored Listings' (paid advertisements). The companies at the top pay the most. It's no wonder Consign Pro's prices are among the highest. Seems they also want their customers to pay their advertising costs.
  • They pay annual membership fees to belong to consignment-related organizations. These organizations do nothing to investigate Wilson's unscrupulous marketing practices yet he claims credibility for their 'endorsements' when in fact they are just another form of paid advertising.

We are often asked why our prices are so much lower. A major reason is that we have very little advertising expense. Search any major search engine for 'consignment software'. Our website, bestconsignmentshopsoftware.com, is ranked #1 in the free listings just below the paid advertisers. (Please don't confuse our website with competitors who mimic our domain and product names. We are 'Best Consignment Shop Software'.)

If you are a current customer of Liberty, CCE or Consignpro and would like to switch to BCSS, we will convert your data for free and you will only pay the equivalent of your current support fees to us until the purchase price of BCSS ($395 or $595) is paid.
