Hi Everyone! I'm Lorraine, and I own Hand Me Downs, located in the coastal community of Wilmington, NC. I purchased my shop from the original owners in February 2006. The store has existed for 17 years. So it pretty much came with an established clientele. The store used to be buy outright, but I turned it into consignment with occasional buy outright. The location I’m in is the third location this store has been in, and it is GREAT! Location, Location, Location!

Now about me: I'm a former corporate accountant, specializing in automated financial software applications and implementations mainly Oracle, PeopleSoft, and others. We moved to the coast about 3 years ago (husband’s job) and needless to say, the role I had of Chief of Finance in a small company was no comparison to what I had been doing in NY (my prior home). However, while moving in this area, I quickly developed the love of resale shops and got it under my skin………………..and now I’m an owner and LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!

We've upgraded everything about the store and are not done yet, as a wise friend said, do a layer at a time. My clientele LOVES the changes and through word of mouth and advertisement, we are growing leaps and bounds. We take Women’s, Children’s, Babies, furniture, housewares, etc. We just recently opened up our formal room, with bridal wear etc...I can see already that we are growing fast! I am thrilled to be in on this software and even more excited about this forum! I can't wait to see how this will grow!

Whew…………..what a mouth full, I don’t usually spill all this, but like I said I’m really excited to be in on the ground of this exciting adventure with this software.
