There may be 2 reasons to buy hardware from the software provider: 1) To be sure you get the correct hardware, and 2) convenience.

The name & model # of a hardware piece "is what it is". That is all that is needed from the software provider. Search Google for the hardware make and model # and compare available prices (free shipping and cables included).

You gain nothing by purchasing hardware from a software vendor. The warranties and guarantees are the same because they are provided by the manufacturer. Shipping time will be the same (or longer if adding an unnecessary middle man also adds delays).

Here's one comparison: The Zebra 2824 Thermal Printer is available online with free shipping for just over $200. The exact same printer is listed at $399 by one software vendor but that's just the beginning. Most hardware providers include the basics that are needed to use the hardware, including cables. This vendor charges $14 for the cable. Not done. You'll find out when you're ready to check out that there's a shipping charge. On average the UPS fee would be $11. This vendor even marks that up to $21. Total cost? $435. Markup for the vendor: 100%. Added benefit to you: Zero.
