The New Wrinkle: Pay monthly to use an online 'cloud' software. One provider charges $99 to $149 per month ($1,118 to $1,788 per year every year) while warning that their competitors charge 'annual service fees'. Six-year cost of this approach: $10,728.

Now, who on earth would rent software for $10,000 when they can buy software for $300 net? Only those who buy the sales pitch that paying (a lot) more buys more.

Consignment stores succeed in part because management makes wise decisions about consignment software and hardware.

There is so much to do, so many details. Paying attention to this decision now will avoid paying needlessly for software and hardware now and later.
